Are You Looking to Solve an Issue With Overmolded Parts?

Ames has specialized in overmolding different substrates from plastics to metals with different rubber materials for over 70 years. We work with our customers to build the processes needed to make their designs a reality.

Whether it’s an established process that isn’t as efficient as it could be, or if a new one needs to be developed, our process engineers work hand in hand with customers to tackle any issue or challenge.

DuPont™ was seeing less than desirable longevity in their over molded target plates. Any defects or inconsistencies in the rubber cover of the metal target plate negatively affects the electrostatic process used in production. The rubber faces extremely high temperatures creating wear of the material at high rates. They were looking to Ames for ideas on how to improve performance.

DuPont ™ has had a long and beneficial relationship with Ames Rubber. Our process is sensitive to the quality of the target plate rubber covering. Every plate’s rubber coating is evaluated/tested before pack installation. A new target plate tester is being installed, which will evaluate the covering to a more rigorous standard. My hope is Ames and DuPont ™ will continue to work together to eliminate any target plate rubber covering anomalies. – Mark C. Keller Manufacturing Technology Engineer, Tyvek® – DuPont™ Protection Solutions.
