April 3, 2020
We are continuing to monitor the Coronavirus and are following the recommended steps necessary to keep our customers, suppliers and employees safe and healthy. As of this writing we are open and operational.
Our Customers: Most of our customers are in businesses that are considered “essential” which means we too are an essential business. To this end, we have been able to procure materials needed to produce their products and have been able to keep all shifts functional and staffed with both production and support personnel so that we are able to ship product to our customers.
Our Suppliers: Our material suppliers have advised us they are fully operational and can continue to meet our current material requirements and delivery dates. We have implemented receiving procedures that limit outside access to our buildings but allow for us to receive materials and supplies and at the same time provide for social distancing.
Our Employees: Our employees are the foundation of the business. We have implemented safe distancing and cleanliness practices to help keep them safe and healthy at work and have continued to encourage them to follow these practices in their personal lives when they are away from the workplace. As with most organizations, Ames does have a number of teammates who are out of work for various reasons including: are self-quarantined as a result of possible exposure to someone who has tested positive for the coronavirus, are sick with an illness, or have opted to stay away from the workplace for personal or family health concerns or to support and care for young children or older adults.
We have taken steps to support those production areas where employees are out by making temporary employee transfers or authorizing additional overtime. We are also following up with teammates who are out, asking for Doctor’s notes before returning to work.
What is important to know is not one Ames employee who is self-quarantining has any symptoms nor has any one of our employees tested positive for the coronavirus. As of this writing, the coronavirus has had very minimal impact to the Ames business. For this we are thankful.
For over 70 years, Ames has been a key supplier of critical rubber components for many essential industries, a role we take seriously. We will continue to do our utmost and work diligently to meet all our customer product delivery requirements.
While we all must continue to deal with the effects of the coronavirus, we ask for your patience, cooperation and understanding as we continue to navigate through this unprecedented situation.
Please contact ames@amescorp.com with any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Ames Rubber Corporation Chuck Roberts President and Chief Executive Officer
